Private labeling a sleep patch is one of the more approachable ways to launch a wellness product line, but a few questions upfront can save you from problems after launch. Here are five worth asking your manufacturer before you sign off on a formula.

1. What Ingredients Are in the Formula, and Where Do They Come From?

A supplier should be able to give you a full ingredient list, not just a marketing summary. If any botanical extracts or fragrance oils are included, ask which supplier they source from and whether that sourcing is consistent batch to batch.

2. Is There Safety Documentation Behind the Formula?

Ask what safety or compatibility testing has been done on the finished patch, and request the relevant documentation — an MSDS at minimum. This is different from a performance certificate and simply confirms the product has been handled and evaluated responsibly.

3. What Claims Can the Packaging Legally Make?

Wording matters. Terms suggesting medical benefit or a guaranteed outcome can create regulatory exposure in many markets. Sticking to comfort- and wellness-oriented language, and having your own legal or compliance check on final packaging copy, is the safer route.

4. How Long Is the Tested Shelf Life?

Ask for the tested shelf life of the finished product, not just the raw materials, and confirm how storage conditions during shipping and warehousing might affect it. This protects you from holding inventory that ages faster than expected.

5. What Are the MOQ and Lead Time for a Private Label Run?

Confirm the minimum order quantity and production lead time for your specific packaging, not a generic stock item. Private label runs typically take longer than stock orders, so build that into your launch timeline early.
